Light Up - BBB
As part of ongoing efforts to enliven and inject vibrancy to Singapore’s city centre, the Light Up – BBB Open Call invites lighting designers, urban planners, architects, artists and students – who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents – to submit their proposals for innovative lighting designs for either the precinct’s (i) building facades and/or (ii) streetscapes.
With its diverse mix of uses, the Bras Basah and Bugis area (BBB) embodies a range of characteristics from artsy, spiritual and rich in heritage, to edgy, eclectic and bohemian from street to street and even building to building. Through this open call, the National Heritage Board, supported by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, invites lighting designers to propose creative lighting designs which respond to and bring out the diverse characteristics of the BBB precinct, while creating and encouraging novel experiences for visitors.
Design proposals received will be assessed by a panel of judges and two (2) successful proposals will be announced at the Singapore Night Festival 2017 (tentatively August 2017), with a prize award of SGD$4,000 for each selected proposal. The panel of judges reserves the right to conclude the Open Call with no award should there not be any suitable proposals received.
